Members registering during this time will have free access to all areas of the site. Monthly subscription transactions are suspended until our full launch on 12th December; all members will be notified in advance of payment start date.

What is included in the monthly subscription cost?

Included in the monthly subscription cost are unlimited use of Live Chat, Helpful Stuff and Media Zone. Face-to-Face Help sessions are bookable at an extra cost; pricing details are found here

How safe is The Language Locker?

The Language Locker has been created with the safety of its users as a top priority. The site is password protected and each member has access through his or her own unique password. The Live Chat function is a messaging service which is controlled and monitored internally and can only be used by our own tutors. All tutors are aware of our full safeguarding policy; to view it, click here.

How qualified are your tutors?

Every tutor goes through an interview process before joining The Language Locker and must have experience of teaching languages at Key Stages 3, 4 & 5 to work with us. We check that every tutor has qualified teacher status and is holds a valid DBS certificate.

How long does a tutoring session last?

Our Face-to-Face Help sessions are 10 or 50 minutes long.

Do I have to book a block of tutoring sessions?

No, you don’t. One of the advantages of using The Language Locker is that it offers complete flexibility to book as few or as many sessions as you like.

Can I ‘meet’ a tutor before I choose to book a session with them?

Yes, of course. Once you submit a booking slot request, a tutor will be in touch within 24 hours to confirm availability of your requested date and time.

If this is the first time of working together, at this point they will arrange a suitable time for a chat by phone or Skype/Zoom to meet both student and parent/guardian/carer before final booking confirmation is made and payment taken.

What equipment do I need to receive online tutoring?

You can receive lessons on a computer, laptop, tablet or phone, but you will need to be somewhere with a strong, stable internet connection.

Whatever you’re using needs to have a webcam and audio function so our tutors can see and hear you. Headphones are a good idea too to help with sound quality and minimise distractions.

Our tutoring sessions are delivered via Skype or Zoom. Once a booking has been made the tutor will be in touch with confirmation, details of which platform will be used and the relevant links, access codes and passwords to join the session.
